from the forties and fities? (see below)

My first "bongos"...

I saved up my babysitting money (at 50 cents an hour) for quite some time before I had enough to buy my first purchase - bongos. Yes, I was a young fan of Maynard G. Krebs... and my first purchase as a budding consumer, bongos. He was the first beatnik to make it on prime time back in the 1950s, complete with snapping fingers, a goatee, and a very relaxed attitude about work (He disdained it!)... I remember loving his attitude, in spite of )or BECAUSE of the overly developed work ethic in my family of birth. So.. what was your first purchase as a budding consumer? I took those bongos with my to college years later. Wish I had them still... but I cherish the memory of Dobie and lighter times.

Welcome to this new blogspot!

This blogspot is a means by which those of us captured by the retro look can share their enthusiasms large and small. My interest began when asked to re-paint some old retro lawn chairs for a friend. I will soon list my accumulation of favorite retro sites, and invite you to share your love and passion - and where to find great retro items, both vintage and reproduction!
